Pedro J. Rivera, Esq. is a Director of Development University Priorities at George Mason University with 25 years of diverse experience in donor relations, wealth management, development/fundraising, financial planning, and planned giving.
Prior to joining George Mason University Office of Advancement & Alumni Relations, Pedro served at UnidosUS, the largest Latino civil rights and advocacy organization in the US, as a Senior Director of Individual & Planned Giving. His primary focus is to build and enhance its major gifts program and launch its planned giving program. He previously served as a development professional for other nonprofit organizations. Throughout his extensive career, he served as Vice President, Wealth Relationship Officer for Wachovia Wealth Management-Legal Specialty Group, where he worked with large multinational and international law firms and provided their attorneys with private banking services.
Pedro was a former board member of the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GPHCC), where he served as the board sponsor of the GPHCC Latino Professional Mentoring Network. He is the Past President of the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania and Region IV the past President of the Hispanic National Bar Association. He received the HNBA Pro Bono of the Year Award in 2014. He is a past recipient of The Legal Intelligencer, 2005 Pennsylvania Attorneys on the Fast Tract, and named 2007 Delaware Valley’s Most Influential Latino Leaders by Impacto Latino Newspaper. He currently sits on the board of Somos el Poder, a Latinx Fundraising Institute. He lectures on Estate Planning and Planned Giving topics nationwide.
Pedro received his J.D. from Western New England College School of Law and his B.S. degree in business administration from the University of South Florida. Pedro is a member of the District of Columbia, the HNBA, the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and Somos el Poder, Latinx Fundraising Institute.
