Sabrina W. Horton serves YWCA USA as Chief External Affairs Officer. As a federated model, Sabrina is responsible for providing executive leadership and vision for YWCA’s national collaborative fundraising and marketing and communications strategy. As a career fundraiser with over 25 years of experience, she has secured more than $400 million in funding from private foundations, public partnerships, individual donors and donor-advised funds. Sabrina is a passionate social justice and racial equity advocate, providing strategic planning to secure major and principal gifts.
In addition to her time with YWCA USA, Sabrina responded to the challenges of a national pandemic by leading YWCA Columbus’ Advancement Team in Columbus, Ohio. In that role, she worked with YWCA Columbus’ Senior Leadership Team to launch the American Electric Power Center for Racial Justice, catalyzing the organization into rapidly fundraising more than $2 million in support of justice, equity and belonging.
Prior to joining YWCA, Sabrina served as Director of Foundation Relations at The Ohio State University, with primary responsibilities for the Wexner Medical Center including the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital, OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center, and The Ohio State University Heart & Vascular Center. Working with faculty research teams, she secured national and international funding for transformational research including three principal grants totaling more than $20 million.
Sabrina is a native of Northfork, West Virginia and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration – Health Care and Masters of Science in Adult and Technical Education - Training and Development from Marshall University in Huntington, WV. She serves as Advisory Board Member to Classy, an international fundraising software company that optimizes the experience of supporters to encourage giving and to help nonprofit fundraisers have a greater impact; Board Treasurer for the Jon’Tavese O’mari Brown Donor Advised Fund of The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation; and Board Member for The William and Vivian Gaddis Foundation When not fighting for justice and equity for all, Sabrina is the proud mother of “two amazing little humans.”
