Christian Appalachian Project
Dr. Brandy Calvert serves as the Director of Philanthropy for Christian Appalachian Project (CAP), a human services organization with a sixty year history of building hope, transforming lives, and sharing Christ’s love through service in Appalachia. A native Appalachian, Dr. Calvert loves to connect donors and partners to the organization in order to move the mission of CAP forward. She provides strategic leadership for the organization’s Direct Mail and Digital Fundraising Programs, the Integrated Database Systems, as well as the Gratitude Program.
Prior to her work at CAP, Dr. Calvert served Kentucky youth and communities as an Extension Agent through the University of Kentucky, her alma mater. It was in this role that she discovered her passion for service learning and servant leadership. A writer and editor at heart, Dr. Calvert also had a successful career in journalism, fulfilling a life-long dream by becoming a reporter and later the Managing Editor of her hometown daily newspaper.
Dr. Calvert holds a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership and a Master’s degree in Educational Technology. Her goal is to continue to learn and grow and make a contribution throughout her life. She actively serves in her church, First Baptist Richmond, through various committees and missions, but most enjoys greeting members and visitors on Sunday mornings. She lives in her home state of Kentucky with her husband Jared and their two children, Jonah and Stella.
